Overcome Your Dental Anxiety and Fear of the Dentist in Mt Vernon
Would you rather deal with toothache or low self-esteem than pay a visit to your dentist? If so, you may suffer from dental anxiety, and you’re not alone. Many people have a fear of the dentist that prevents them from receiving dental cleanings and other procedures that they really need to remain healthy and confident.
Our skilled dentists, Dr. Geren, Dr. Mady, and Dr. Hausser, are proud to provide mild, moderate, and advanced dental sedation options to their patients in the Mt Vernon and Alexandria area. If you want a more pleasant dental experience, dental sedation may be right for you.
What Dental Sedation Options Do I Have?
Here at Mt. Vernon’s Center for Dentistry, you have not just one or two options, but four safe dental sedation options to choose from. To learn more details about each of our options for dental anxiety, give us a call or see our “What Types of Dental Sedation are Available?” page.
Inhaled minimal sedation | Laughing gas is administered through a mask placed over the nose. The gas helps you relax and wears off quickly after your visit.
Moderate oral sedation | With oral sedation, the patient simply takes a pill about one hour prior to the procedure. The prescription will make you drowsy and calm during your appointment.
Moderate IV sedation | IV sedation is administered through the veins and takes effect quickly. The patient will remain awake, but their minds and bodies will be at ease.
Deep sedation/general anesthesia | Patients are deeply asleep throughout the procedure.
Is Sedation Dentistry Used for Anything Besides Dental Anxiety?
Even patients without a fear of the dentist can benefit from dental sedation.
For Busy Patients | Sedation dentistry allows patients to sit back and feel comfortable for hours while your dentist totally transforms your smile. You will be free from dental discomfort while you progress towards a healthy and stunning smile.
For Patients with Difficulty Getting Numb | If local anesthesia is not enough to make you comfortable, consider relaxing with dental sedation.
For Patients with an Overactive Gag Reflex | An overactive reflex can make treatments uncomfortable or even impossible. Dental sedation put the muscles at ease and allow you to receive the dental care you need.
For Other Patients | There are many problems that may result in a patient struggling throughout their time in the dental chair. If you have any concerns about your next appointment, please don’t hesitate to ask us about dental sedation. We are sure that one of our options will make you feel comfortable during any dental treatments you may need.
